One of the most fundamental things about your photography is the props you put into them and how you make them work with your subject in a cohesive way. Accessorizing your images is all up to you and how you want the public to view it. You can have as little props to nothing in your photograps and it will still stand out as well as a noisy background complimented with more props. Now, some people are afraid of too much going on in there photographs so they try to take a more minimalistic image but, it all comes down to composition. If you want to have a lot of props/ accessories in your photographs, go for it, as long as those props dont take away from your main focal point and have a recemblance to one another. For Example, the photographer Richard Avedon: he’s known for his minimalistic fashion photography. He always showed movement in his images in a very simplistic yet beautiful way.
He almost always used a white background and let the subject be the noise of the image with they movements. You can take inspiration from him if you want a more clean photography and minimalistic.
A lot of props, or not, it’s up to you. I personally love accessorizing the space that i work even if its just a chair. I love playing with props and I try to capture images using the props in very different ways. You can have a lot of fun and you might find your style. You can also find and object that you love working with and have it in all your photographs so they have a corolation. The objects that I of then use in my photographs are: a mirror, a chair, and a lamp.
You can find an objects that you love photographing with and make it your trademark and our symbol with your images. So, search in your own homes what objects attract you well enough for you to make a whole series with them. You don”t always have to buy your props; sometimes the best props are right in your home.
So, get searching of what sort of props and accessories you want to bring into your images. I can be from none to a lot of props. It all comes down of how you make them look in a cohesive way in sync with your composition.
